Delta 8 vs Delta 9

Delta 8 vs Delta 9

Cannabis has developed and evolved so much recently that it can be hard to keep up with. In this blog we are addressing some of our most asked questions; What is delta? Is there a difference between Delta 8 and Delta 9? And how is this legal?

Both Delta 8 and 9 are forms of Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). THC is something that occurs naturally in cannabis, including hemp. It has the potential to cause psychoactive and therapeutic effects. This article provides more in depth information on the different benefits and possible side effects of Delta 9.

There are a couple differences between Delta 8 and 9.

  • When it comes to the chemical structure the only difference between the two is in Delta 8 there is a double bond on the eighth carbon, while Delta 9 has the double bond on the ninth carbon.
  • It has been reported that Delta 8 has less of a psychoactive effect than Delta 9. It is also believed to have about half the potency.

Legality

With the passing of the Hemp Farming Act of 2018 came a loophole for Delta products. According to the bill, the THC levels in Hemp have to be below the .3% cutoff, as mandated by the USDA. So as long as the Delta 8 and 9  are hemp derived and under the .3% THC by volume they are legal.

With all this being said it is important to stay up to date on the newest laws and regulations in your state and county because they are always subject to change.

At High Point Pharms we offer a variety of Delta 9 gummies. A majority of our customers state that it helps with their sleep at night, whether it be falling asleep or staying asleep. We do not have them available for online purchase however, they are available in store or at events.
